2nd Half - Temecula Run like a Diva 2015

Divas Half Marathon Special edition-  Monte De Oro Winery, Temecula, CA Feb. 28, 2015

Friday evening at Packet Pick up.  Already having fun with my MRTT friends.  My girls found the  Sign table and made me encouraging posters!
And of course I had to take a pic with my new Divas shirt and Tutu!

Saturday Morning.
WE are all set to Race! It was a cold morning with Impending Rain but that didn't dampen our enthusiasm.
 Group photos all around.
I was a lot better prepared for this half!  I felt sure of myself and not as nervous.  I knew I could do it.  My only worry this time was beating my time from the previous run.  I needed to stay at an 11 minute pace!
The Rain stayed away but the wind was pushing me around.
We had many hills that were challenging and by the top of mile 5, I needed a potty stop.
I knew that I would lose site of my 2 running buddies that were staying at my goal pace.  It took me about two miles of pushing myself to finally reach these 2 Amazing women in the pic.

Even though I didn't stay right beside them I did keep them in sight for the rest of the race.  By mile 10 (pic above) I was feeling a little tired but I fueled and kept on running.  As before I cheered on the other runners as I passed them, the ones that were at a slower pace.  Their pace doesn't really Matter much, I see the determination on their faces and know that they are already Winners just for making the Effort to be out there!  This Dives me forward!  When I saw a lonely runner or if they looked tired, I Cheered them On even More because the Ones faster than me Cheered me on when they passed me.  I truly Love this Mutual Encouragement.  There was one one lady I kept either passing or she would pass me by the End we were New running Friends.   I had yet again caught up to Sarah, the 11 minute pacer  at mile 12 and then a bomb drops.  I get a bloody nose. Yuck. I can't believe it, this has Never happened before.  At least I had grabbed a wad of tissue and had it in my jacket pocket.  So I hold the tissue to my nose and Keep walking.  I see Sarah pass then Celia.  So I start running again with that tissue on my nose.  I was so Close I to the finish line.  I couldn't let this stupid nose bleed stop me from achieving my goal of attaining my Personal Record (PR) for a half.  So I kept going and as I did the bleeding stopped. YAY!  I did achieve a PR.  I finished with the time of 2 hours and 24 minutes!

This is Martha. She's such an inspiration. She is super fast and very motivating.  A fun loving granny that I look up to.  She came in about 40 seconds before me.
It was so Much fun receiving our Tiaras, boas, Medals and white roses.
Here are some of my spoils.  I LOVE this medal.  My Favorite so far and I had to buy myself a new running shirt.

All the Best to you and your Goals!  Never Stop reaching for your Dreams and Pushing Forward.

First Half Marathon - Riverside Mission Inn

I was So very nervous this Morning. I woke up extra early and prepared myself for what I was about to tackle.  I was excited also because I knew I had the Support of my Family and MRTT running buddies.
We started off well and were running along great.  I was sticking with Liz a running friend I admire.  As we ran, I got swept up in the excitement and adrenaline rush and I pushed myself to go faster.   Yes, I had trained for this but I was really still a novice.  The hills on this course were challenging but the local support was wonderful.  The roads lined with beautiful stately homes with their owners sitting along the road cheering us on, was amazing!   I fueled and drank my water as needed until I came to a very long exhausting stretch along the riverbank and lost energy at mile 8.
As I found myself needing to walk more and really dig in to my willpower to keep me going, I also started cheering others on.  I saw people of all shapes, ages, colors out here running and doing the Best they could and that Kept me going!  I had also kept my eye on an older man in front of me and told myself - "If he can keep going so Can I!"     So I did!
It didn't get easier.  I was very hungry and feeling worn out.  I just kept pushing forward to my Goal!

Here I am so Happy to see the crowd before the Finish Line!  Thanks to Carmen an Amazing woman, who took this picture of me.  I didn't even see her I was so concentrated on Finishing.   I had seen my girls and husband Cheering me on and that gave Me the Extra spurt of Energy I needed to Finish Strong!

I finished at 2 hours and 25 minutes!  WOW! I impressed myself.  I really didn't know what to expect and I was really only hoping to finish before 3 hours.  Well, I DID.
My friend Kim is the reason I ran this race and here we are at the End with our Medals.  Yes, we look Happy and Felt Accomplished!
Here is my wonderful Hubby and girls that support me.  I wouldn't have been able to do this without them.  I'm so Blessed.

These collages show the support from the Mom's Run This Town running group.  As well as the Victory Pictures at the End!
This is such a fantastic Learning experience.  I learned I needed to learn to fuel better and I needed New Running shoes.  I ended up with a Loose toe nail for the first time.
Every training run after this was always a learning experience.

If you can make a goal, you can achieve it!

Thanks for reading.  I hope to encourage others to go after their goals.
